Adventure WV strives to foster personal growth, leadership development, social responsibility, and student success through adventure-based and experiential education programming. The program is guided by the values of integrity, student-centrism, community and collaboration, challenge, quality and professionalism and adventure.

Your support empowers Adventure WV to:

  • Provide scholarships for students to participate in our extended and international trips. These opportunities encourage students to prioritize personal growth, leadership development, and social responsibility.

  • Cultivate relationships with academic and campus partners to support the overall retention effort at WVU. Our aim is to collaborate to identify vulnerable populations and strategically engage these student segments with empirically driven program experiences.

  • Provide professional development opportunities to our student staff. This allows our staff to expand their leadership and enhance our effectiveness of peer-to-peer programs.

When you make a gift—no matter the size—you help make an immediate impact for Adventure WV and our students. Your generosity and thoughtfulness are appreciated!

The Center for Black Culture and Research was established to recruit and retain African American students and students of color at WVU. The Center also serves as an educational, social, and cultural support system for African and African American students, faculty, staff and community members.

As WVU continues to grow and develop the services, programming and support provided to our Black students and students of color, the Center plays an important role in these initiatives. The need for education and creating awareness is critical; your donation will provide additional programming and outreach to the community.

Your support is critical to help the WVU Club Sports program go above and beyond. We rely on passionate, loyal, and caring members of the Mountaineer family, like you, to provide important opportunities for our Club Sports Student Athletes and the greater WVU community.

Club Sports offers the opportunity to develop a sense of belonging by finding a community on-campus while staying active through sports.

Your support empowers the WVU Club Sports program to create incredible opportunities and impact by:

  • Providing the opportunity to pay for travel costs.

    • These opportunities allow our students and clubs to travel and compete against other universities in their leagues and post-season play.

  • Providing the opportunity to pay league and tournament registration fees.

    • This will allow our clubs to join different leagues for competition play.

  • Improving sports & medical equipment available for club use.

    • This opportunity allows the students to be able to have improved standards of care and improved equipment to improve their training and game experience.

When you make a gift – no matter the amount – you will help make an immediate impact on the Club

Student Media is WVU's integrated media department, comprising The Daily Athenaeum, U92 The Moose and Prospect and Price Creative – all student-run media organizations. This department provides valuable opportunities for students in publishing, broadcast, and marketing and advertising. Each year, more than 100 students find a home in Student Media’s inclusive and welcoming organizations. Managed by a professional staff, Student Media provides real-world experiences in media, as well as internships, training and portfolio and resume building found nowhere else on WVU’s campus.

Why we need your support:

The media industry is constantly evolving, and to provide students opportunities that will make them competitive in the job market, Student Media must give students access to the equipment and the hands-on experiences to prepare them for internships and jobs.

Your help is needed to complete the vision for Student Media – a full renovation of The Daily Athenaeum Building (which houses all three of our organizations). This major renovation will include renaming the building, state-of-the-art broadcast facilities for U92, complete with professional studios, podcasting space and new offices that will become a centerpiece for visitors to WVU.

The bottom floor of the building will be renovated to house Prospect and Price Creative, a student-run creative services agency which creates targeted marketing solutions for on- and off-campus clients. The goal is to create a modern space for designers and the marketing team, as well as The DA’s advertising staff, that stimulates creativity and innovation and models the professional advertising agency experience. Other improvements will include enhancing the infrastructure of the building and upgrades to The DA newsroom.

The real benefit of renovations is the opportunity to collaborate. Student Media organizations are separate yet work together on projects that appear on air, online and in print; they share a podcasting studio, video equipment, a student sales force and a five-person professional staff. Not every student who participates in student media will have a career in the industry. Yet the skills they learn at The DA, U92 and Prospect and Price – writing, editing, reporting, collaborating, meeting deadlines, creating programming, selling advertising, managing and marketing – will prepare them for opportunities in many fields.

  • The Daily Athenaeum, WVU’s independent student newspaper is printed each Wednesday during the academic year and is distributed to more than 12,000 readers in Monongalia and Preston counties and 84 locations around Morgantown and WVU’s campus. On-campus circulation is 2,700. Their website has more than 5,000 visitors daily. More than 60 students work in the editorial and advertising departments.

  • U92-The Moose, WVU’s student-run radio station, is a 24/7, 2,600-watt FM terrestrial/ internet-streaming station with a news, sports and DJ staff of more than 100 students. Students curate music shows, produce news and sports programming, and produce play by play broadcasts for WVU women’s and men’s soccer, women’s basketball, baseball and hockey games. U92 houses more than a dozen podcasting talk shows ranging in topics from sports and news to culture and entertainment. In 2023, the station is expanding to include U82 The Caribou – an experimental online radio station, playing an eclectic mix of music, sports and more.

  • Prospect and Price Creative, a creative services firm established in January 2019, works with local small businesses and campus partners in need of ad agency work. Students produce brochures, logos, ads, videos, podcasts, photography, marketing booths, and other marketing services.

WVU’s Greek Life community provides men and women opportunities to develop as leaders and create lifelong bonds of friendship.

The Nolan Burch Greek Leadership Academy is one of its most prestigious leadership development programs.

The Academy is a multi-week, non-credit experiential leadership experience which brings together select leaders from any recognized fraternity or sorority to discuss critical issues facing Greek Life at WVU as well as across the country. With a focus on the legacy of Nolan Burch, a WVU student who passed away in 2014 due to an alcohol hazing ritual in an unrecognized fraternity, the Academy equips students with resources and tools to inspire a paradigm shift in culture to a healthy and safe Greek experience for all.

The Greek Alumni Hall of Fame recognizes the contributions of WVU’s fraternity and sorority alumni to the WVU community and the communities where they live and work. Established in 2018, the Hall provides a lasting way to honor the impact of these individuals and their use of the skills they developed as an undergraduate member of the Greek community.

Your financial support of Greek Life during WVU’s Day of Giving will contribute to the long-term success and continuity of each of these programs.

Established to honor retired Student Life Vice President Ken Gray and his wife, Carolyn, this fund assists students who experience a sudden financial hardship that could prevent them from continuing their education or impact their success at WVU. This fund provides immediate financial assistance to current students who are unable to meet urgent, essential expenses such as books, temporary housing, medical, travel and other unforeseen, non-tuition-related needs.

The Mountaineer Mascot is the most beloved of all West Virginia University traditions and symbolizes the proud and rich heritage of the Mountain State and its people. Wearing the heavy custom buckskins and real coonskin cap, the Mountaineer carries not just the weight of the uniform, but the weight of West Virginia on their shoulders. The tradition began more than 90 years ago and while the uniform looks nearly the same, the responsibilities of the position have greatly increased.

The Mountaineer attends NCAA football, basketball and baseball games as well as gymnastics, soccer, volleyball and wrestling matches, cheering on the Mountaineers and building excitement among fans. Outside WVU athletics, the Mountaineer attends WVU Club Sports events and more than 250 events each year throughout West Virginia, appearing at schools, hospitals, civic organizations, WVU Alumni events and more. And prospective students – and their families – clamor to have a photo taken with the Mountaineer at on- and off-campus recruiting events.

Your support during WVU’s Day of Giving will provide funding for expenses the Mountaineer incurs during events on- and off-campus including travel, promotional items such as postcards and stickers and more. You can take pride in preserving the Mountaineer’s tradition and how it reminds West Virginians of their strength and courage for generations to come.

The Be On! Fund is designed to remove financial barriers for University students seeking help in emergencies.

Also known as the Nolan Burch Emergency On-Looker Response Fund, the crowdfunded effort bears the name of the WVU student who died in 2014 after a hazing event from an unrecognized fraternity.

Money raised will be used to pay for ambulatory fees, select medical expenses, and/or scholarships for hazing prevention efforts and reporting among students currently enrolled on the Morgantown Campus who qualify for Medical Amnesty under the Student Code of Conduct.

WVU Collegiate Recovery is a nonclinical, peer-support program, dedicated to helping students find balance, purpose, and a sense of community on campus. Our program is open to any student who is in, seeking, affected by, or supporting recovery from substance use disorders, eating disorders, and any other mental health or behavioral health concern. We believe no student should ever have to choose between their recovery and their education, and our goal is to help individuals thrive during their time at WVU. Offerings include daily recovery meetings, meditation, outdoor adventures, and weekly sober social activities. WVU Collegiate Recovery also hosts Recovery Ally trainings to help destigmatize addiction and provide faculty, staff, and students with tools to better support those in or seeking recovery. More information about all our programs and events can be found on our website, recovery.wvu.edu.

Your donation will provide opportunities for additional programming and outreach to current and potential students, as well as scholarship opportunities to help support the educational pursuits of students active in the WVU Collegiate Recovery Program.
